Using existing table lighters is slow and painstaking, because their small flame dances around in even a slight draft. The large (1" diameter) mushroom head has 60 holes, much like a chemistry Bunsen burner. The 1" to 1-1/2" high, 2,450 flame lights the cigar almost instantaneously, without the need to rotate the cigar. The cigar lights cleanly, without suffering a charred, sooty-tasting foot. The Blazer Stratus refillable butane gas, torch lighter is a wind-resistant, blue-torch flame, pocket lighter. The lighter creates a precise flame emitting from its head, allowing direct heat application to an object. It is used for lighting pipes, cigarettes, and cigars.

The lighter houses a piezoelectric ignition system, which is based on a pressurized molecular reaction, and requires no electric connection.
